Description

Deliciously rich and festive salted caramel brownies perfect for Christmas celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter.
  6. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and spread it out. Drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top and swirl it gently into the batter with a knife.
  7. Sprinkle the sea salt evenly over the top of the brownies.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a festive touch, add crushed peppermint candies on top before baking.
  • You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with white chocolate chips for a different flavor profile.
