- 4 slices of rye bread
- 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces of Brie cheese, sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the slices of rye bread on a baking sheet and brush one side with olive oil.
- Toast the bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- On the toasted side of each slice, layer the Brie cheese and pear slices.
- Drizzle honey over the pear and cheese, then sprinkle with thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Return the topped toast to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve warm as an appetizer or light meal.
Notes
- For a nutty flavor, add a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans on top before baking.
