Description
This rich and moist banana bread is made with ripe bananas, brown sugar, and butter for the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1 cup chocolate chips or 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix until combined.
- Stir in the mashed bananas.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or walnuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For a healthier option, substitute half of the flour with whole wheat flour.
- You can store banana bread at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
- Freeze individual slices for an easy, grab-and-go snack.
