Description

A delightful and aromatic dessert made with layers of flaky pastry, filled with pistachios and flavored with rose water.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 2 cups of finely chopped pistachios
  • 1 cup of melted butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of rose water
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped pistachios with ground cinnamon.
  3. Layer half of the phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  4. Spread the pistachio mixture evenly over the phyllo layers.
  5. Layer the remaining phyllo dough on top, again brushing each layer with melted butter.
  6. Cut the baklava into diamond shapes before baking.
  7. Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and rose water to make the syrup, and bring to a boil.
  9. Once the baklava is baked, pour the syrup over it while it’s still hot.
  10. Let it cool before serving.

  • Ensure the phyllo dough is thawed properly before use.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar in the syrup according to your taste.
  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a bit of honey to the syrup.
