- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Colored sugar or sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and almond extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheets in desired shapes, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Brush the tops of the cookies with the beaten egg and sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a chocolate variation, add 1/2 cup of cocoa powder to the dry ingredients and adjust the flour accordingly.
