Description
Onion-Braised Tuna, Martín Berasategui Style is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines tender tuna steaks with caramelized onions and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (6-ounce) tuna steaks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Push the onion mixture to the side of the skillet and add the tuna steaks. Sear the tuna for about 2 minutes on each side until browned.
- Pour in the white wine and vegetable broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the tuna is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve the tuna topped with the onion mixture and garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when cooking the onions.
- Substitute the tuna with salmon or swordfish for a different flavor profile. Adjust cooking times as necessary based on the thickness of the fish.
