Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Old School Pizza Burgers that combine the flavors of pizza and burgers for a mouthwatering meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
  4. Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, spoon about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce onto each patty and top with shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni, if using. Cover the grill or skillet to melt the cheese.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing each cheesy patty on a bun and adding any additional toppings you like. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes to the patties.
  • Try using different types of cheese, such as provolone or cheddar, for a unique flavor twist.
