Description

A delicious and nutritious breakfast option, these Nourishing Indian Overnight Oats are perfect for a quick and healthy start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 ½ cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt (optional)
  • ½ cup diced mango or banana
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pistachios)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl or jar, combine the rolled oats, milk, chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and cardamom. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  2. If using, fold in the plain yogurt for added creaminess.
  3. Divide the mixture into two jars or bowls, cover, and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours) to allow the oats to soak and soften.
  4. In the morning, give the oats a good stir and top with diced mango or banana and chopped nuts.
  5. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a tropical twist, add shredded coconut or a sprinkle of nutmeg.
  • Substitute the fruit based on the season; berries, apples, or peaches work well too.
