A simple and delicious recipe for No-Knead Turkish Bread that requires minimal effort and yields a rustic flatbread perfect for any meal.

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 ¼ cups warm water (around 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (plus more for greasing)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 1 tablespoon black cumin seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a spacious bowl, whisk together the flour, sea salt, and instant yeast until well combined.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing with a wooden spoon until a sticky and shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours, allowing it to rise until it becomes bubbly and has roughly doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to 450°F.
- Place a cast-iron skillet or a Dutch oven (with the lid) inside the oven to heat for about 30 minutes.
- On a floured surface, gently turn out the dough, using floured hands to shape it into a loose ball without overworking it.
- Carefully take the hot skillet or Dutch oven out of the oven and lightly grease the bottom with olive oil.
- Transfer the dough into the vessel, and if you like, sprinkle sesame seeds and black cumin seeds on top for added flavor.
- Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the lid and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, until the bread turns a beautiful golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Once done, take the bread out and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, brush the top with melted butter right after baking.
- You can also incorporate fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme into the dough before the initial rise for an aromatic twist.
