  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
  • Sour cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  2. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the pot. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Mix well to combine.
  4. Add the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until all spices are evenly distributed.
