Description

Delicious and refreshing fish tacos topped with a vibrant Mauritian pineapple and chili salsa, perfect for summer.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh pineapple, diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix the diced pineapple, red onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, lime juice, honey, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper in a bowl. Allow to sit for about 15 minutes.
  2. Season the fish fillets generously with cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the seasoned fish fillets for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and flaky.
  4. Warm the corn tortillas in another skillet or microwave until soft and flexible.
  5. Assemble the tacos by placing a piece of cooked fish on each tortilla, spooning over the pineapple and chili salsa, and adding extra cilantro if desired. Serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • Let the salsa sit to enhance flavors.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less jalapeño.
  • Use any white fish of your choice.
