Description
A rich and decadent chocolate mousse torte that is a must-try for chocolate lovers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Chocolate shavings or whipped cream for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, melted butter, and water. Mix until smooth.
- Add the egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt to the cocoa mixture. Stir until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture until no white streaks remain.
- Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly soft. Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan.
- While the torte cools, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once the torte is completely cool, carefully remove it from the springform pan. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the torte and garnish with chocolate shavings or additional whipped cream if desired.
- Refrigerate the torte for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of espresso powder to the cocoa mixture.
- Substitute the heavy cream with coconut cream for a dairy-free version.
