Description
A delightful recipe for a savory leek and salmon tart that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 medium leeks, cleaned and sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup smoked salmon, chopped
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
- Fresh dill for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced leeks, salt, pepper, and thyme. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the leeks are soft and translucent. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and eggs until well combined.
- Stir in the sautéed leeks, smoked salmon, and shredded Gruyère cheese into the cream and egg mixture.
- Place the pie crust in a 9-inch tart pan or pie dish. Pour the leek and salmon mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tart is set and the top is lightly golden.
- Allow the tart to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh dill if desired.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream and use low-fat cheese.
- Add a handful of fresh spinach or arugula to the filling for extra nutrients and color.
