- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 large lettuce leaves (for serving)
- 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled feta cheese, diced tomato, red onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet.
- Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip them and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness, or longer if you prefer them well done.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- Serve each patty on a large lettuce leaf, topped with a dollop of tzatziki sauce if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in chopped fresh herbs like parsley or dill into the beef mixture.
- If you prefer a spicy kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
