- 1 can (4.5 ounces) sardines in olive oil, drained
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed and chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the drained sardines, cream cheese, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Use a fork to mash the mixture until smooth and well combined.
- Add the lemon juice, capers, parsley, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce (if using) to the bowl. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika (if using) to taste. Adjust the flavors according to your preference.
- Transfer the pâté to a serving dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve chilled with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or fresh vegetable sticks.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a few dashes of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mixture.
- Substitute the sardines with canned tuna or smoked salmon for a different flavor profile.
