Delicious and easy-to-make honey-mustard onion pretzel bites that are perfect for snacking.
Ingredients

- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and brown sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into pretzel bites.
- Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water, then brush the mixture over the pretzel bites.
- In another bowl, mix honey, Dijon mustard, and chopped onion. Spoon this mixture over the pretzel bites.
- Sprinkle coarse sea salt on top and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor, add more honey to the mustard mixture.
- These pretzel bites can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
