Description

This Homemade Sweet Potato Casserole is rich, creamy, and topped with a crunchy pecan streusel. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any cozy family meal!


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pecan Streusel Topping:
    • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup flour
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Boil sweet potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash.
  • Mix mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar, butter, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread sweet potato mixture into prepared dish.
  • In a bowl, mix pecans, brown sugar, flour, and melted butter to form streusel.
  • Sprinkle streusel over the sweet potatoes.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until topping is golden and crispy

Notes

  • To make ahead, prepare the sweet potato mixture and topping separately. Assemble just before baking.
  • For a marshmallow topping, add marshmallows in the last 10 minutes of baking.
