Description
Hazelnut Meringue Bombs are delightful treats made with whipped egg whites, finely chopped hazelnuts, and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the egg whites using an electric mixer on medium speed until frothy.
- Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
- Gradually incorporate the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while increasing the mixer speed to high until glossy and stiff peaks are achieved.
- Gently stir in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the finely chopped hazelnuts with a spatula until well distributed.
- Create small rounds or nests of the meringue mixture on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches wide.
- Bake in the oven for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until completely dry and easily lifted off the parchment.
- Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool inside for about an hour.
- While cooling, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Once cooled, add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top of each meringue and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.

- Ensure the egg whites are at room temperature for better volume.
- Store meringues in an airtight container to maintain their crispness.
