Description
A delightful treat of hard-boiled quail eggs stuffed with a creamy tallow mixture, perfect for appetizers or snacks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 quail eggs
- 2 tablespoons beef tallow
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (such as chives or parsley) for garnish
Instructions
- Bring a small pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the quail eggs and boil for 4 minutes.
- After 4 minutes, remove the eggs and place them in an ice bath for about 5 minutes to stop the cooking process.
- Once cooled, gently tap each egg on a hard surface to crack the shell, then peel the shells off carefully.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the beef tallow, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Cut each peeled quail egg in half lengthwise and scoop out the yolk into the bowl with the tallow mixture.
- Mash the yolks into the tallow mixture until smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the filling back into the egg whites.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving for a refreshing treat.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling mixture.
- Substitute the beef tallow with avocado or coconut oil for a different flavor profile and texture.
