Description
Delicious and festive Ham & Cheese Puff Pastry Christmas Trees perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 ounces sliced deli ham
- 8 ounces sliced cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out each sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out creases.
- Cut each sheet into a triangle shape, approximately 6 inches wide at the base and 8 inches tall.
- Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over each triangle.
- Layer 2-3 slices of ham and 2-3 slices of cheese on one half of the triangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Season with salt and pepper.
- Fold the other half of the triangle over the filling to create a pocket and press the edges firmly to seal.
- Use a sharp knife to cut small slits along the edges of the triangle to create a tree shape, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For a festive touch, try adding a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning on top before baking.
- You can substitute the ham and cheese with turkey and Swiss for a different flavor profile.
