Description
A spooky and delicious Halloween treat featuring Brie cheese wrapped in puff pastry and topped with cranberry sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of Brie cheese
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/4 cup cranberry sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Assorted crackers or toasted bread for serving
Instructions
- Start by heating your oven to 400°F.
- On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the puff pastry until it’s smooth and slightly larger.
- Center the Brie cheese on the pastry, creating a cozy nest for it.
- Pour the maple syrup over the cheese, followed by a generous layer of cranberry sauce.
- Scatter the chopped thyme over the top and season with a pinch of salt and pepper for added flavor.
- Carefully fold the pastry around the Brie, ensuring it’s fully encased. Trim any excess pastry to maintain a neat appearance.
- Transfer the wrapped Brie to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes after removing from the oven, as the cheese will be molten inside.
Notes
- For an eerie effect, mix in a few drops of red food coloring into the cranberry sauce before layering it on the Brie.
- For a savory twist, consider adding sautéed spinach or roasted garlic inside the pastry with the cheese.
