Description
A delicious and creamy Gruyere cheese fondue perfect for dipping bread and vegetables.

- 8 ounces Gruyere cheese, shredded
- 8 ounces Emmental cheese, shredded
- 1 clove garlic, sliced in half
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
- 1 French baguette, cut into small cubes
- Assorted vegetables (like broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers), chopped into bite-sized pieces
Instructions
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove and set the garlic aside.
- Toss the shredded Gruyere and Emmental cheeses with cornstarch in a separate bowl until evenly coated.
- Pour the white wine and lemon juice into the fondue pot and heat over medium until it simmers.
- Slowly add the cheese mixture to the pot, stirring constantly in a circular motion until fully melted and creamy.
- Mix in the kirsch, black pepper, and nutmeg, adjusting seasoning to taste.
- Keep the fondue warm at a low temperature and serve with bread cubes and fresh vegetables for dipping.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a combination of different cheeses.
- Ensure the cheese is shredded for easier melting.
- Adjust the consistency with more wine if the fondue is too thick.
