- 1 pound grass-fed ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 hamburger buns (optional)
- Lettuce, tomato, and pickles for toppings (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.
- Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip.
- After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and add 1 tablespoon of butter on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness (145°F for medium-rare).
- If using hamburger buns, toast them on the grill or in a separate skillet during the last minute of cooking.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun (if using) and adding your choice of lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Serve immediately.

- For added flavor, mix in some Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce into the ground beef before forming the patties.
