- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 large Granny Smith apple, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Whisk until well combined.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the sliced apples and half of the sliced onions. Pour half of the cream mixture over the layers. Sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, apples, onions, cream mixture, and finish with the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let the dish cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

- For a creamier texture, add an extra 1/2 cup of heavy cream to the mixture.
