  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1/2 cup rich caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Fresh whipped cream and extra spices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Whip the heavy cream in a large bowl until fluffy with soft peaks.
  2. In a separate bowl, blend the mascarpone cheese with confectioners’ sugar, vanilla essence, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until creamy and smooth.
  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to maintain lightness.
  4. In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer crumbled gingerbread cake at the bottom.
  5. Drizzle dark molasses and caramel sauce over the cake layer.
  6. Add a generous layer of the mascarpone cream mixture on top.
  7. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining gingerbread, molasses, caramel, and mascarpone cream.
  8. Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts on top if desired.
  9. Crown the trifle with fresh whipped cream and a dusting of spices.
  10. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
