Instructions
- Whip the heavy cream in a large bowl until fluffy with soft peaks.
- In a separate bowl, blend the mascarpone cheese with confectioners’ sugar, vanilla essence, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until creamy and smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to maintain lightness.
- In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer crumbled gingerbread cake at the bottom.
- Drizzle dark molasses and caramel sauce over the cake layer.
- Add a generous layer of the mascarpone cream mixture on top.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining gingerbread, molasses, caramel, and mascarpone cream.
- Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts on top if desired.
- Crown the trifle with fresh whipped cream and a dusting of spices.
- Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
