- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and dusting them with flour.

- Incorporate the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract into the dry mixture, beating on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, mixing gently until it reaches a thin consistency.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, carefully cut each cake in half horizontally to create four layers.
- On a serving plate, place the first layer and generously spread whipped cream on top, followed by a layer of Morello cherries.
- Continue layering with the remaining cake layers, ensuring to finish with whipped cream on the top layer.
- Decorate the cake with chocolate shavings and any leftover cherries for an elegant touch.
