    • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter
    • 3/4 cup heavy cream
    • Extra cream and sugar for topping
  • For the Frangipane:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp almond extract
    • 1 cup almond flour
  • For the Strawberries:
    • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • For the Whipped Cream:
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extrac

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare shortcake dough by mixing flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in heavy cream until dough forms.
  • Roll out dough and cut into rounds. Brush with cream and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • Prepare frangipane by creaming butter and sugar. Add egg, almond extract, and almond flour. Mix until smooth.
  • Macerate strawberries with sugar and lemon juice.
  • Assemble shortcakes by slicing them in half. Spread frangipane, spoon strawberries, and top with whipped cream. Garnish with extra strawberries.

  • Chill the frangipane if it becomes too soft before assembling.
