- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- Extra cream and sugar for topping
- For the Frangipane:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup almond flour
- For the Strawberries:
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- For the Whipped Cream:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extrac
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare shortcake dough by mixing flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in heavy cream until dough forms.
- Roll out dough and cut into rounds. Brush with cream and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Prepare frangipane by creaming butter and sugar. Add egg, almond extract, and almond flour. Mix until smooth.
- Macerate strawberries with sugar and lemon juice.
- Assemble shortcakes by slicing them in half. Spread frangipane, spoon strawberries, and top with whipped cream. Garnish with extra strawberries.

- Chill the frangipane if it becomes too soft before assembling.
