Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk and orange juice. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting or a simple whipped cream topping. Garnish with additional orange zest or festive sprinkles if desired.

- For a lighter version, substitute half of the butter with unsweetened applesauce.
- For added flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of ground cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
