Description

A delicious flatbread topped with fresh figs, rosemary, and goat cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup fresh figs, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1/4 cup goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Evenly distribute the chopped figs and rosemary over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flatbread, add a tablespoon of honey to the dough before kneading.
  • Substitute fresh figs with dried figs or pears for a different flavor profile.
