A delicious and simple recipe for a savory tuna breakfast quiche that is perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons ice water
- 1 can (5 ounces) tuna, drained
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour with salt.
- Incorporate the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Slowly add the ice water, stirring until the dough holds together.
- Roll out the dough and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan, pressing it evenly along the bottom and sides.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and frothy.
- Evenly distribute the drained tuna over the prepared crust, followed by the grated cheddar cheese.
- Carefully pour the egg mixture over the top, ensuring it covers all the ingredients.
- If desired, sprinkle the sliced green onions on top for added flavor.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the tart is firm and the top is a light golden brown.
- Allow it to rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing into wedges.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, replace half of the milk with heavy cream.
- Enhance the dish by adding diced bell peppers or spinach.
- For a crustless option, grease a tart dish and pour the filling directly into it.
