- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Stir in the garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and sautéed onion mixture. Mix well until the cheese is evenly distributed.
- In another bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and melted butter. Mix until the breadcrumbs are well coated.
- Spread the cheese and onion mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Top with the buttery panko breadcrumbs.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the onion mixture.
- You can substitute the cheeses with your favorites, such as pepper jack or gouda, for a different flavor profile.
