- 2 large heads of garlic
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 pound store-bought pizza dough
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon mixed Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut off the tops of the garlic heads to reveal the cloves, drizzle with olive oil, and wrap in aluminum foil.
- Roast the garlic in the oven for about 30-35 minutes until tender and golden.
- Allow the garlic to cool slightly, then squeeze the soft garlic into a bowl and mash until smooth.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the mashed roasted garlic evenly across the dough, then layer with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, salt, and black pepper over the cheese.
- Slice the dough into 1-inch wide strips, stack them, and cut into square pieces.
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and arrange the dough squares upright in the pan.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top of the dough.
- Cover the loaf pan with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm area for about 20-30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

- For added excitement, consider mixing in crispy bacon bits or spicy jalapeños.
- Feel free to swap the cheeses for your favorites, like pepper jack or gouda.
