Crispy Tofu Nuggets are a delicious and crunchy snack or appetizer made from firm tofu, coated in a flavorful breading and fried to perfection.

- 1 block (14 ounces) firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, place the beaten eggs.
- In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
- Coat each tofu cube in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Dip it into the beaten eggs, then roll it in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Repeat with all tofu cubes.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Once hot, add the coated tofu nuggets in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or barbecue sauce.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour and use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- Add spices like cayenne pepper or Italian seasoning to the breadcrumb mixture for extra flavor.
