Description

Crispy Tofu Nuggets are a delicious and crunchy snack or appetizer made from firm tofu, coated in a flavorful breading and fried to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 ounces) firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, place the beaten eggs.
  4. In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
  5. Coat each tofu cube in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then roll it in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  7. Repeat with all tofu cubes.
  8. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  9. Once hot, add the coated tofu nuggets in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  10. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  12. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or barbecue sauce.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour and use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
