  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Begin by soaking the onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. This will help tenderize the onions and enhance flavor.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  5. Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each ring in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Dip the floured rings into the Parmesan and breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Carefully place the coated onion rings in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Transfer the fried onion rings to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
