Description
A flavorful recipe for crispy chicken livers glazed with ghee, perfect for a delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken livers, cleaned and trimmed
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Soak the cleaned chicken livers in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Remove the chicken livers from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each liver in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- In a large skillet, heat the ghee over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully add the coated chicken livers in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.
- Cook the livers for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked livers to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Once all livers are cooked, return them to the skillet and toss gently in the remaining ghee for an extra glaze.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- You can substitute the ghee with olive oil for a different flavor profile.
- Serve with a side of sautéed greens or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
