Description
Cranberry Pecan Phyllo Spirals are a delicious treat perfect for any occasion, combining the sweetness of cranberries and the crunch of pecans wrapped in flaky phyllo dough.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 sheets phyllo dough, thawed
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup dried cranberries, chopped
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecans, dried cranberries, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush with more butter. Repeat this process for a total of 4 sheets.
- Spread a portion of the cranberry-pecan mixture along one edge of the phyllo dough, leaving about an inch of space from the edges.
- Drizzle a little honey over the filling.
- Starting from the edge with the filling, carefully roll the phyllo dough into a tight spiral. Place the spiral seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Repeat steps 3-6 with the remaining phyllo sheets and filling.
- Brush the tops of the spirals with any remaining melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a festive touch, add a teaspoon of orange zest to the filling mixture.
- Try substituting walnuts or almonds for the pecans for a different flavor profile.
