Description

A delicious and festive Cranberry Linzer Torte recipe perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup ground almonds (or almond flour)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cranberry preserves (or cranberry sauce)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom or a pie dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. The dough will be slightly crumbly.
  6. Reserve about 1 cup of the dough for the lattice top. Press the remaining dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared tart pan.
  7. Spread the cranberry preserves evenly over the crust.
  8. Roll out the reserved dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick. Cut into strips to create a lattice pattern over the cranberry layer.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Allow the torte to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, substitute ground almonds with an equal amount of oat flour.
  • You can also use raspberry or apricot preserves instead of cranberry for a different flavor profile.
  • For added texture, consider mixing in some chopped walnuts or pecans into the crust.
