- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed (or 2 cans of green beans, drained)
- 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional Add-Ins:
- Red pepper flakes (for heat)
- Maple syrup (as a sweetener alternative)
- Toasted nuts (for a vegetarian version)
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until crispy, then crumble and set aside.
- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath.
- In a skillet, sauté garlic in reserved bacon fat. Add brown sugar, soy sauce, and butter, cooking until thickened.
- Toss green beans in the sauce, then transfer to a baking dish.
- Top with crumbled bacon and bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
Notes
- You can make the sauce and green beans ahead of time and bake them just before serving.
- For a stovetop-only version, simmer the green beans in the sauce for 5 minutes instead of baking.
