Description
Delightful holiday treats that resemble Christmas trees, perfect for festive celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring
- Edible glitter or sprinkles (optional)
- Mini chocolate chips or star-shaped candies for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed until frothy.
- Add the cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating on high speed until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until you achieve your desired shade of green.
- Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe small tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, starting with a wider base and tapering to a point.
- If desired, sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles on top of the meringue trees for extra sparkle.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meringues are dry and can easily lift off the parchment paper. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside for an additional hour.
- Once cooled, decorate the tops of the meringue trees with mini chocolate chips or star-shaped candies.
Notes
- For a festive touch, use different colors of food coloring to create a variety of meringue trees.
- If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a plastic sandwich bag with a corner snipped off to pipe the meringue shapes.
