Description
A festive and delicious dessert, this Christmas Eve Cinnamon-Vanilla Custard Pie will surely impress your guests.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- Whipped cream (for serving, optional)
- Ground cinnamon (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is warm but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually pour the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously to prevent the eggs from cooking.
- Once combined, pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours to fully set.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, if desired.
Notes
- For an extra touch, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the custard mixture for a warm spice flavor.
- You can also substitute the vanilla extract with almond extract for a different twist.
