A decadent Choc Hazelnut Baklava Tart that combines the rich flavors of chocolate and hazelnuts with a crispy phyllo crust.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 5 sheets of phyllo dough, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and airy.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually blend in the flour mixture until a cohesive dough forms.
- Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, covering the bottom and sides evenly.
- In another bowl, combine the chopped hazelnuts, chocolate chips, and ground cinnamon.
- Spread the hazelnut and chocolate mixture over the prepared tart crust.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, water, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat gently over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Brush each phyllo dough sheet with melted butter and layer them over the filling, tucking in the edges.
- Drizzle the honey syrup generously over the phyllo layers.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden brown.
- Allow the tart to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of sea salt to the chocolate mixture.
- You can swap out the hazelnuts for walnuts if preferred.
- Dust the top with powdered sugar for a festive presentation before serving.
