Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 5 sheets of phyllo dough, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and airy.
  4. Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  5. Gradually blend in the flour mixture until a cohesive dough forms.
  6. Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, covering the bottom and sides evenly.
  7. In another bowl, combine the chopped hazelnuts, chocolate chips, and ground cinnamon.
  8. Spread the hazelnut and chocolate mixture over the prepared tart crust.
  9. In a small saucepan, combine honey, water, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat gently over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  10. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  11. Brush each phyllo dough sheet with melted butter and layer them over the filling, tucking in the edges.
  12. Drizzle the honey syrup generously over the phyllo layers.
  13. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden brown.
  14. Allow the tart to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of sea salt to the chocolate mixture.
