Description
A delicious appetizer featuring caramelized onions and ripe pears on toasted baguette slices, topped with creamy goat cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces (about 12 slices)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces goat cheese, softened
- Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized.
- Stir in the balsamic vinegar and sugar, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Spread a generous layer of goat cheese on each toasted baguette slice.
- Top with a spoonful of the caramelized onions and a few slices of pear.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, and garnish with fresh thyme leaves.
- Serve immediately while the crostini are warm.
Notes
- For a sweeter touch, drizzle honey over the crostini before serving.
- Substitute the goat cheese with cream cheese or ricotta for a different flavor profile.
