Description

Caramel Apple Mousse Cups are a delightful fall treat that combines the flavors of caramel and apples in a creamy mousse.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced (about 2 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Graham cracker crumbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced apples and lemon juice, stirring to coat.
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes until the apples are tender.
  4. Stir in the granulated sugar and cinnamon, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is caramelized.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  7. Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Gently fold the cooled apple mixture into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
  9. Spoon the mousse into serving cups, layering with caramel sauce and chopped nuts if desired.
  10. Top with a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs for garnish.
  11. Chill the mousse cups in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with whipped coconut cream.
  • For added flavor, mix in a pinch of nutmeg or use different types of apples for varied sweetness.
