Description

This homemade version of Captain D’s Batter Dipped Fish is crispy, golden, and filled with tender, flaky white fish. Perfect for a seafood night!


Ingredients

  • For the Fish:
    • 46 white fish fillets (cod, pollock, or tilapia)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • For the Batter:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 cup cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 cup club soda or beer
  • For Frying:
    • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

 

  1. Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients for the batter. Gradually add club soda or beer, mixing until smooth.
  3. Heat oil to 350°F and dip the fish fillets in the batter. Fry for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Drain on paper towels and serve with fries or coleslaw

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and gluten-free beer or soda.
  • Fry in batches to maintain the oil temperature for the crispiest results.
