Description
This homemade version of Captain D’s Batter Dipped Fish is crispy, golden, and filled with tender, flaky white fish. Perfect for a seafood night!

- For the Fish:
- 4–6 white fish fillets (cod, pollock, or tilapia)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- For the Batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup club soda or beer
- For Frying:
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients for the batter. Gradually add club soda or beer, mixing until smooth.
- Heat oil to 350°F and dip the fish fillets in the batter. Fry for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and serve with fries or coleslaw
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and gluten-free beer or soda.
- Fry in batches to maintain the oil temperature for the crispiest results.
