Description
Create a stunning holiday appetizer with this Caprese Christmas Tree recipe, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
- 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers or toothpicks
- Fresh rosemary sprigs (for decoration, optional)
Instructions
- Start by washing the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- On a wooden skewer or toothpick, thread one cherry tomato, followed by a mozzarella ball, and then a basil leaf. Repeat this pattern until you reach the desired height of your ‘tree.’ Aim for about 5-6 sets per skewer.
- Arrange the skewers in a triangular shape on a serving platter to resemble a Christmas tree. You can adjust the height of the skewers to create a layered effect.
- Drizzle the assembled tree with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- If desired, use fresh rosemary sprigs to decorate the top of the tree or around the base for a festive touch.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving to keep the ingredients fresh.
Notes
- For a colorful twist, use a mix of heirloom cherry tomatoes in different colors.
- Add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning or crushed red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
