A festive twist on a classic appetizer, these Candy Cane Pigs in a Blanket are perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 package (12 ounces) cocktail sausages (mini hot dogs)
- 1/4 cup crushed candy canes (about 3–4 candy canes)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Place a cocktail sausage at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up toward the point.
- Place the rolled sausages on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- In a small bowl, mix the crushed candy canes, sugar, and vanilla extract. Sprinkle this mixture generously over the tops of the rolled sausages.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a twist, try using different flavored sausages, like maple or spicy sausage, for added flavor.
- You can also substitute the crushed candy canes with festive sprinkles for a colorful touch.
