Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar and butter over medium heat. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the heavy cream while continuing to stir. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low.
  3. Allow the sauce to simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens slightly.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Mix until fully combined.
  5. Let the sauce cool for a few minutes before serving. It will thicken more as it cools.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of bourbon or rum while the sauce is simmering.
