Description

Brussels Sprouts Gratin is a creamy and delicious dish that combines roasted Brussels sprouts with a rich cheese sauce, topped with crispy breadcrumbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until well coated.
  3. Spread the Brussels sprouts evenly on a baking sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly caramelized.
  4. While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, Gruyère cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and nutmeg. Stir until the cheeses are melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Once the Brussels sprouts are done roasting, transfer them to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Pour the cheese sauce over the Brussels sprouts, ensuring they are evenly covered.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter until well combined.
  8. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the cheese-covered Brussels sprouts.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  10. Let the gratin cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the cheese sauce.
  • You can substitute the Gruyère cheese with cheddar or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
