Description

A simple recipe for making brown sugar syrup perfect for boba and milk tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the syrup thickens slightly.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using.
  4. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using.
  5. Store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try using dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt to the syrup for a salted caramel twist that pairs wonderfully with milk tea.
