Description
A simple recipe for making brown sugar syrup perfect for boba and milk tea.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the syrup thickens slightly.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using.
- Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using.
- Store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try using dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
- Add a pinch of sea salt to the syrup for a salted caramel twist that pairs wonderfully with milk tea.
