Description
A quick and delicious recipe for broiled mackerel fillets topped with a zesty lemon butter sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 mackerel fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the broiler in your oven and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Place the mackerel fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin side down. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Broil for about 5-7 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the skin is crispy.
- While the mackerel is broiling, prepare the lemon butter sauce by melting the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the lemon juice and zest, and cook for an additional minute. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Once the mackerel is done, remove it from the oven and drizzle the lemon butter sauce over the fillets. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the lemon butter sauce.
- If mackerel is not available, this recipe works well with salmon or trout as alternatives.
